Dear Visitors,

I am pleased that you want to help children who had to endure traumatic situations due to war and displacement.

Stabilizing these little survivors emotionally and re-opening their path to the future is also my concern. For the support in family, in daycare, school and shelters, you will find materials for free download here.

All picture books and texts have in common that they should serve to relieve affected children and their families, and can strengthen their self-healing powers.

Any therapy that may be indicated cannot be replaced by this, but it may become more conceivable.

I wish you and the children in your care all the best!

On behalf of the entire project team

Trauma Booklets

The Trauma Picture Book in 16 languages

“I’m not alone and there is help!”

This is what the Trauma Picture Book is intended to convey to children. It depicts the story of a child from its birth through a traumatic experience to its healing. Explanations are included for parents and drawing and craft templates for children.

The Trauma Picture Sheet in 12 languages

“What can we do for our child?”

The Trauma Picture Sheet is made for parents who are worried about their child after the escape. In clear images and with very little text, it initially describes symptoms that can indicate problems resulting from trauma. Numerous options for practical help from parents are then shown.

Handouts for Educators

“Understanding relieves the burden on the soul.”

The handout “Helping through Understanding Part 1” illustrates the basic principles of a beneficial approach to children who may be suffering from the consequences of trauma. In particular, the “Compass for Trauma-Sensitive Pedagogy” can simplify this work in daycare centers, schools and accommodation and make life easier for the children.

“The child isn’t feeling well? This is normal after traumatic experiences. And there is help!”

That is the message of the Trauma Picture Book in words and pictures. When the child or his parents look at it, recognition and differentiation are possible. The handout “Helping through Understanding Part 2” presents very different ways of using the Trauma Picture Book in the educational area.
